According to the latest interim data from CSM Media Research, as of 2:00 a.m. on September 28, coverage of the Asian Games through live broadcasts and related news reports by China Media Group (CMG) had achieved a cumulative reach of 27.986 billion across all media platforms, with an audience of 847 million. Millions of viewers tuned in to watch the thrilling competition at Asia’s premier sporting event. Following the conclusion of the Games, CMG’s combined channel group achieved a viewing share of 41.59%, setting a new record for all editions of the Asian Games. CCTV-5, CMG’s dedicated sports channel, also achieved a record average viewing share of 7.57%.
At the heart of this major sporting event, Konvision monitors were deployed on site, supporting live broadcast monitoring and picture quality assurance throughout the competition. By helping broadcast teams maintain stringent picture quality standards, Konvision contributed to the delivery of high-quality broadcast signals, bringing accurate and faithful representations of the action to audiences around the world.

As seen in on-site photographs, the Konvision KUM-2710H 4K HDR monitor was used for live broadcast monitoring during the gymnastics events. With its 3840×2160 4K resolution, the monitor provided a detailed view of athletes’ movements, including split-second moments of high-difficulty routines on the rings.

In addition to the KUM-2710H, two other Konvision 4K HDR monitors, the KUM-3110H and KUM-2410H, were also deployed for live broadcast monitoring at the Asian Games. Both models feature UHD IPS LCD panels with a 178°H/V viewing angle. They support HDR (HLG/PQ) and feature 2×12G-SDI inputs & loop-outs, alongside 3G-SDI, HDMI 2.0 and SFP+ optical fiber interfaces. Supporting SD, HD and 4K signals, the two monitors were primarily deployed at technical monitoring positions, where they helped broadcast teams perform detailed picture quality checks. Working alongside the KUM-2710H, they formed a coordinated monitoring setup to support the broadcast workflow.

The Asian Games feature a wide variety of sporting disciplines, each presenting distinct visual challenges. Broadcast images can contain bright highlights and deep shadows, high-contrast lighting and fast-moving action alongside fine static details. These conditions place demanding requirements on a monitor’s contrast performance. The KUM-2710H and KUM-2410H feature Konvision’s proprietary Dynamic Contrast technology, enhancing contrast performance on conventional LCD monitors. The technology adaptively adjusts backlight brightness according to image content. In darker scenes, backlight output can be reduced to deliver deeper blacks and cleaner shadow detail. In bright scenes, highlight gradation is preserved to help maintain visibility across a wider range of luminance levels. Whether handling complex indoor arena lighting or strong brightness variations in outdoor venues, the KUM-2710H helps technical operators make informed and reliable picture quality assessments.

During live coverage of gymnastics and other sporting events, complex venue lighting and fast-moving action can make highlight clipping difficult to identify in real time. Konvision’s 4K HDR monitors feature HDR Ratio Analysis, which provide real-time statistics on the proportion of HDR highlight pixels in the picture. This helps camera operators quickly identify shots with excessive highlight levels and make timely exposure adjustments, supporting compliance with CMG’s HDR video production requirements.

In addition, Konvision’s 4K HDR monitors supports 4K HDR-HD SDR down-conversion. Through a single SDI connection, the function enables 4K-HD down-conversion and HDR-SDR signal conversion. At the Asian Games, this function helped accommodate HD SDR production requirements alongside the same UHD HDR source signal. It also improved compatibility with a wider range of HD playback equipment, reducing the need for additional external signal conversion hardware on site. By supporting both 4K and HD production workflows, Konvision monitors help streamline signal distribution and enable event coverage to reach a broader range of viewing platforms.

Across 16 days of competition and nearly 400 hours of live coverage, the demands on monitoring equipment extended beyond image display performance to include long-term operational stability and consistent color reproduction. With years of experience in the R&D and manufacturing of broadcast-grade professional monitors, Konvision has supported live production for major sporting events and large-scale broadcasts in China and internationally. The demanding schedule of the Asian Games provided another real-world test of the stability and color accuracy of professional monitoring equipment.
The Asian Games have now come to a successful close, with countless memorable sporting moments delivered to audiences worldwide through UHD images. Konvision will continue to advance professional display technology and support the next generation of world-class live productions and sporting events.
